Fit Truth

I recently read a fantastic post by Jess over at Eat Drink Breathe Sweat and she talks about her Fit Truth, which is the answer to her question Why Be Fit? Her answer....

My fit truth – it’s about Health. Wellness. Vibrancy (go check out her blog for more inspiration!)

This post spoke very true to me and I just had to answer this question for myself :)

My Fit Truth's:

To Be Stronger: I am so tired of feeling, well tired all the time. I don't want to be the weakest link anymore.

For My Daughter: I want to be stronger & healthier for her. I want her to grow up knowing how to take care of herself. How can I teach her that if I'm not living it?

Energy: I need more energy to keep up with my life. I hate feeling so worn down at the end of the day.

Clothes: I want my clothes to fit better. I am not really concerned about what I weigh I just want my clothes to look good and feel good!

Envy... YES Envy: I am tired of envying women I see that look healthy & you can tell they work out regularly. Honestly its not the skinny that I see. I see the muscle tone and the energy in their step. I envy the strength I see. I want to have that energy in my step & to look fit.

Stress Relief: Studies say that working out is a stress reliever & I believe that 100%. When I was healthier and worked out more regularly it was a huge stress reliever. It cleared my mind & I was able to solve problems that were weighing down on me.

My Writing: Yes I want to be fit for my writing. I know this sounds weird but hear me out! I recently read "The Right To Write" by Julia Cameron. (She has a lot of amazing things to say and it is very inspirational but this is for another day.) Julia talks about how being active even by just walking helps to open the mind and let the creative juices flow. I have tried this a few times and it's very true.

For Me: I want to workout & run for me. To clear my head each morning & start fresh & energized. Notice I said morning! I am terrible at mornings. I seriously sleep until the very last second I can. But I know that mornings are the best time for me so that I can get a good start to the day and do it while the baby is still sleeping ;)  I'll be honest this is the biggest hurdle for me right now.

For My Husband: I really think that our relationship will benefit from me becoming healthier & stronger. My stress level should be way down which should lighten my mood :) Also I hope that this will help inspire him to get healthier as well.

Now I know why I want to be fit... the hard part is acting on it. Today is Thursday and so far this week I have only worked out once :( and honestly that is because my lovely sister asked me to come with her to run stadiums at the college track (my legs are like jelly right now!)

My plan going forward is to get up 20 minutes earlier then I normally do and do a quick workout. I know this isn't much but its a good start and honestly a lot more than I am doing right now.

Do you have any tips for getting my rear-end out of bed in the mornings?!!!?

  2. I LOVE your fit truths!!! And I know that you'll crush each of these 'truths' in your own way and in due time -- it's about accountability which you have in the bag: you just wrote them all down for all of us to see, afterall ;-) Now get AFTER IT!!! You can do it! ps. now is the BEST time of year to start an early-am routine: it's light out at or even before 5am now which I LOVE. So motivating and way easier than getting up in the pitch black like in the dead of winter. :)

  6. I try to stay pretty fit. I go through phases where I work out a lot but then I get into a slack off phase. I recently purchased a FitBit One and have made a goal of getting at least 10k steps in per day. For the last 4 weeks, I've exceeded my goal 6 out of 7 days per week. It's funny that this little pedometer is motivating me more than telling myself to walk at least 3 miles per day!

I love all of your reasons for staying fit. It's so true, being fit makes you happier and of course, healthier!

Following along via BlogLovin. Have a wonderful week!
