A Well Needed Slap

Today I was graced with a slap in the face. Not the kind of slap that stings but the kind of slap that makes you say "Hello! What have I been doing?!"

I was honestly embarrassed that the subject had been brought up or rather that it needed to be brought up as I was quite sincerely oblivious.

Reflecting back over the past few weeks trying to find the source of this attitude that brought on my wake up call I am not surprised that it happened but surprised that I missed it. I did not see it coming nor suspect any issues.

I do not want to dwell on the actual slap or make excuses for myself. I want to use it to grow & move forward. To be more aware of myself & my surroundings.

I also want to say that I am grateful for the slap because now I can work or move in a better, happier direction.

I read this today and thought it was perfect!

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE
Your life can be the way you want it to be
Simply take control of it.
Who's to say you can't change?
Prove everyone wrong
Direct your life.

Have any of you had nice slap recently?

I loved the first sentence of you post....it made me think, how many slaps have I gotten and had the wrong attitude about. How many did I learn from?

Thank you for posting this. And thanks for co-hosting the Wondering Brain Party. Have a lovely weekend!

{Melinda} The slaps hurt, but I am always grateful for them in retrospect. They usually save me from more pain down the road. You've got a great teachable heart and spirit! ;)

That is embarassing, but at least the person had guts enough to speak up about whatever it was. My thinking is that if you are upset with someone - I mean really angry and considering breaking off the relationship, not just irritated with them, you owe it to them to tell them why you are upset with them. Then at least they have the chance to apologize, explain, or tell you to go to hell. So many times, especially women, won't do that and I think it's unfair. They just say - they KNOW what they did, but in reality the person may not have any clue or may not realize that you took it in a negative way. I think talking is much better.

Thank you Beth! I hope it help you in some way :D
Ok, I have to admit I am so curious as to the details behind this, but no matter what I know how you feel. I tend to be really hard on myself and over think things, so when I do something that deserves one of these slaps, it totally derails me. It takes a big person to be able to admit it when these moments happen!

I am sorry I left it pretty vague but the moral of the story hopefully came through okay for you!
Have a great weekend :D

We often need the simple reminder to take charge of the strings ourselves, and if we feel we are under someone else's control then it's time for some re-programming
Such a great point to not dwell on what it was but to move ahead and learn. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. Sometimes we need to take a step back in order to go forward.
It's amazing how a well-needed (deserved) slap can change lives. If you recognize it as positive, that is. And so many people do not. That is why they keep doing what they've always done, expecting things to change. It doesn't work that way. Really liked your ending and "Take Charge Of Your Life." If you don't, who will. Great advice.

Thank you Linda! And I agree it is really sad seeing people not making the necessary changes in life to make them happier. You have to look at life differently sometimes to get it

Excellent post, Keia! Liked how short and to the point it was, just like the slap, LOL! I am having slaps like this quite often and realize after how good it is to act upon them. Use them to take action!

I love it Keia. It's just an absolutely perfect quote. When we take charge of our lives and create the path we desire, our happiness level rises. Everyone is truly capable of creating a life filled with happiness and joy, but you must first believe it to be so. It's also very okay to have "off" days because those days give us the jolt we need to keep going and/or do something different.

Thanks for the great advice Keia. :)

I completely agree Keri. I actually had a pretty off day today but I forced myself to think of the positive things that happened today and it helped immensely with the way I felt. Thank you for taking the time to comment! I hope you have a great weekend :D
